Community Spotlight: Cameron Poss

Youth Ambassador Cameron Poss

Youth Ambassador Cameron Poss

In 2020, the American Autism Association launched our Youth Ambassadors Program, an opportunity for high school and college students to serve as leaders in raising understanding and support for autism in their communities. We are delighted to welcome our first class of ambassadors, and we will be spotlighting each student.

Meet Cameron!

What made you interested in working with the American Autism Association?

I’ve been focused on trying to make an impact and this seems like a perfect opportunity to do so.

What do you hope to gain from your experience as a Youth Ambassador?

I hope to be able to do something that extends out of my community, as the impact of my volunteering now doesn’t reach out of the state. I’d love to be able to help even if it’s just a bit, if that extends out across the country.

How do you like to spend your free time?

In my free time I like to spend time with friends (kind of hard over the past couple months though), play tennis, listen to music, and play with my dogs.

What is your secret (or not so secret) talent?

I don’t really have any true secret talents, I’d say being able to do schoolwork with minimal studying is my strong suit.

What superpower do you want most?

Being able to talk to animals; there are so many different species that I’d want to learn their different personalities and how they see life.

What is your dream job?

Being a pediatrician because I like to help people, especially children, and I’m fascinated by biology.
