Advocacy & Education

The American Autism Association realizes that every parent wants the best for their children and family. Raising a child with autism can be difficult – whether it be the caretaking itself, or the pressures and misunderstanding from those around you.  It is our goal to ease these hardships for families. We enable parents by providing them with access to autism related resources that will be helpful in a plethora of ways to someone with autism. We believe that every person affected by autism has the right to get access to quality resources that will aid them in development and building life skills.

We seek to advocate for all who are perceived as different, at any age, and from the highest of functioning forms of autism to the more intensive special needs cases. Educating our local and national communities on autism is a key aspect of how we advocate. We invite you to join our efforts to raise autism awareness to better the future of those living on the autism spectrum.

All of our works and resources are provided low cost or free to families. For information on upcoming workshops or events, please visit our calendar.

Parenting Workshops

We collaborate with local professionals, such as educators, behavioral therapists, speech therapists, and community advocates to share their knowledge with parents and guardians of individuals with autism. Each workshop is unique, and gives parents the opportunity to ask questions, share stories, and learn directly from professionals and each other about the autism parenting journey. If you are interested in being a speaker at one of our workshops in New York or Miami, please email us at programs@myautism.org.

Advocacy Booths

Our advocacy booths give us the opportunity to engage with new audiences to raise autism awareness, educate, and be the voice for individuals with autism. Our goal is to raise awareness and inspire communities across the nation to help improve education, safety and employment opportunities for individuals with autism. Our team is happy to attend any events in our local communities. If you are interested in raising autism awareness in your school, community, or at your event – please contact our team.
