Virtual Cooking Class: English Muffin Pizzas

 
 

On Wednesday, August 5th, the American Autism Association hosted a virtual cooking class with the Executive Director of Culikid and Licensed Mastered Social Worker, Kelley Bligh. This workshop focused on making English Muffin Pizzas with simple ingredients. Bligh shared some helpful tips when working in the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 Clove garlic

  • 1 English Muffin

  • 3 Tablespoon of parmesan cheese

  • 1 Can (6 oz) of tomatoes paste

  • 2 Tablespoon of honey

  • 6 Oz of warm water

  • 3/4 Teaspoon of onion powder

  • 1/2 Teaspoon of salt

  • 1/4 Teaspoon of oregano

  • 1/4 Teaspoon of basil

  • 1/4 Teaspoon of ground black pepper

  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

  • 1/4 Teaspoon of marjoram (optional)

  • 1/8 Teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional)

  • 1/8 Teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Pepperoni (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. Peel off the garlic clove and mince the garlic. Put it in a mixing bowl. Scoop out the entire can of tomato paste into the same bowl. Pour in warm water into the bowl. Pour in parmesan cheese, honey, onion powder, salt, oregano, basil, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, ground black pepper, and marjoram. Whisk it all together.

  3. Place aluminum foil on a tray. Slice the English muffin into halves. Apply a spoonful of pizza sauce onto the English muffins. Then, sprinkle mozzarella cheese onto the muffins. Apply pepperoni or any other pizza topping of your choice.

  4. Place the pizza into the oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Culikid is a non-profit organization catered towards individuals with special needs to provide healthy culinary programs. They help individuals with special needs to strengthen their social skill practice, independence, and fine motor skills. These classes are co-hosted by a chef and a social worker.
