Sensory Friendly Halloween Activities
It’s nearly Halloween, which means it’s time to celebrate our favorite spooky holiday. Listed below are Halloween activities that your little pumpkin will enjoy on this fun and festive day.
Outdoor Activities:
Pumpkin Patch
There is nothing better than going to a pumpkin patch and picking out the best looking pumpkin to either decorate, paint, carve, or bake pumpkin seeds.
Corn Mazes and Hayrides
There are many corn mazes that you can visit during the month of October. Mazes and hayrides are great because your child is exposed to the different elements of nature and a hayride can be relaxing as you are taking in the cool fall weather and the multi-colored changing leaves.
Rake Leaves
Your child and family can rake leaves in a pile and then jump in the huge pile of leaves. After your family and child are done jumping in the leaves, you can start collecting the leaves and putting them in the garbage when finished.
Apple Picking
There are many orchards and if you are able to go visit one, you will be able to pick crisp apples. Once completed, your child can help you make caramel apples, decorate the apples in a Halloween theme, and make mini apple pies.
Indoor Activities:
Painting
Your child can paint fall images such as pumpkins, ghosts, vampires, etc. To keep with the Halloween theme, paint colors that your child can use can be browns, oranges, greens, etc.
BINGO!
There are free Halloween bingo cards that can be printed online. You and your child can also make your own bingo cards and the markers can be different colored candies such as M&M’s.
Slime
All children love slime. Why not make it Halloween themed? With slime you can add glitter, googly eyes, multi colors, and so much more. Slime is easily customizable and a quick activity.
Tie Dye Apparel
Tie dying is a fun activity for all children. You can tie dye shirts, socks, headbands, or any other apparel. Your child can explore their creative side by testing out different patterns, designs, and colors.
