Touro will Host an Autism Conversation via Zoom
For Autism Acceptance Month, Touro University California will host a virtual conversation on Zoom titled “Autism Acceptance” from noon to 1 p.m. on April 22.
The event is hosted by Touro University California student group American Academy of Development Medicine and Dentistry. There will be experts from Touro University California, The Arc-Solano and the Special Olympics, as well as self-advocates, that will talk about the resources that are available throughout the county and state shelter-in-place orders related to the novel coronavirus.
They will talk about autism acceptance, how to show support, Covid-19’s impact on the developmentally disabled, how athletes can remain active during shelter-in-place scenario and what are some of the resources available for the developmentally disables and their supporters during a shelter-in-place.
“We’re excited to partner with Arc-Solano and the Special Olympics to provide resources to support the Autism Spectrum Disorder community while maintaining social distancing,” said Gianna Brown, American Academy of Development Medicine and Dentistry president, in the press release of Daily Republic Staff
There will be a time set aside for self-advocates to share the different kinds of changes they had to go through during this time, and for participants to ask questions.
The virtual lunchtime event is free and open to everyone on Zoom. Participants are encouraged to register in advance at tu.edu/autismacceptance.
