Sensory-Friendly COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
As COVID-19 vaccines become more widely available, treatment centers and healthcare facilities are holding free vaccine clinics to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities. Here are a few sensory-friendly vaccine clinics being hosted in the summeer.
The Autism Treatment Center of San Antonio, Texas will be providing a sensory-friendly vaccine clinic through partnership with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, according to News 4 San Antonio. Vaccines will be administered in a drive-thru manner on Wednesday, July 7th from 4pm to 7pm for those who are 12 years old or older. The address of the clinic is 15911 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, Texas 78247. They will be administering the Pfizer vaccine at this location, and you may register up to four people at a time. The Autism Treatment Center recommends registering by July 5th, and the second dose will take place on July 28th. An ASL interpreter will be on site during the clinic for those who have hearing troubles. You can register for the vaccine at this location here.
The Autism Society of Minnesota and the Multicultural Autism Action Network of Minnesota are also hosting a similar sensory-friendly vaccine clinic through partnership with Hennepin Healthcare. This vaccine clinic will take place on Thursday, July 15th from 3pm to 7pm located at 2380 Wycliff Street, Suite 102, Saint Paul, MN 55114. If you are 12 years or older, you are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine, which will have its second dose on August 5th at the same location. Anyone 18 years or older may take the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. More information can be found by registering here. The UC Davis MIND Institute of Sacramento, California is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for people with developmental disabilities in a sensory-friendly manner. They are giving out the Pfizer vaccine to anyone 12 or older and offer a variety of dates. The location of the clinic is 2825 50th Street, Sacramento, CA 95817.
