Get Involved for World Autism Month
April is World Autism Month in which we take the time to celebrate individuals with autism and increase understanding of autism. There is power in passion and one small act to better the autism community can have a ripple effect to foster a positive impact in our communities. We believe that by empowering others, we can help individuals with autism reach their full potential. With April right around the corner, here are some ways you can get involved for this year's World Autism Month.
#GOBLUE
April 2 is an internationally recognized holiday known as World Autism Awareness Day and it also helps to kick off World Autism Month. To show your support, we encourage you to wear all blue on this day. Blue was the color chosen to represent autism spectrum disorder and has been the color for spreading autism awareness. On our website, we have a shop where you can purchase some great items to sport all of your blue attire on April 2. Don’t forget to tag us on instagram using #MyAutism or @MyAutism to share your photos.
Advocate
One of the biggest ways to show your appreciation and support during this month is by advocating. Advocating not only helps show your support of the autism community, but it also helps to spread awareness about autism.
Some ways to advocate are:
Sharing one of the graphics from our website on your social media and explaining why you advocate for autism awareness (Don’t forget to tag us @myautism!)
Attend local autism awareness events in your area
Attend some of our webinars
Educate yourself on autism
Speak up and speak out
Fundraise
Another important way to get involved during this month would be to run a fundraiser. There are numerous ways to fundraise nowadays, so we will list a few that may be of interest to you.
Challenges within the workplace
Birthday fundraisers
Get active and walk/run for the cause and spread your purpose for running
Utilize Facebook’s fundraising
You can find a variety of ways to fundraise through our website. Every dollar raised helps make a difference in the lives of the people with autism and their families that we serve.
Donate
Services utilized by those with autism are often expensive and can make budgeting tight. By donating, you can help ease the stress of those with autism and their families. Donate here today, and help make a difference tomorrow.
