'Bachelor' Alum Demi Burnett Shares Autism Diagnosis

Ex- Bachelor contestant Demi Burnett took to Instagram on Saturday, February 19, 2022, to share her recent autism diagnosis. In a post made to the social media site, Burnett writes “I did a psychological evaluation and I’m autistic. There is a huge stigma when it comes to autism. I encourage you to be open minded and accepting”.

The 27-year-old from Red Oak, Texas has gained national recognition through her time being a contestant on season 23 of the popular ABC show, The Bachelor. Burnett boasts 1.1 million followers on Instagram alone.

According to Insider Magazine, “Burnett previously shared that she was experiencing emotional breakdowns "every few hours" and was looking forward to seeing a psychiatrist in early January.”

The CDC estimates that over 5.4 million American’s are suspected of living with autism spectrum disorder.

Burnett went on to say in the Instagram post ,"I want to make sure anyone who is/was feeling like me can know you really aren't alone. It can get better! And most importantly it isn't your fault".

By sharing her story, Burnett is demonstrating to her followers that it is okay to seek help and assistance.  While also ensuring that she uses her large platform to inform and educate the public on autism and breaking the stigmatisms around the disorder.
