Amazon Orders Comedy Drama Series Starring Actors with Autism
Amazon Studios will have a new series of Comedy Drama which is based on an Israeli series and it’s about a group of 3 young adults with autism that are roommates and their experiences about trying to get a job, make friends, fall in love, and travel the world.
This series will stream on Prime Video and Jason Katims, who used to work on the NBC series “Parenthood,” is the writer and executive producer for the show, with Jeni Mulein and Danna Stern also executive producing.
Amazon shared with Disability Scoop that Rick Glassman, Sue Ann Pien and Albert Rutecki will be playing the roommates in the series.
The new series was originally titled “On The Spectrum” after the pilot was produced, but it is currently untitled. Amazon did not say how many episodes it’s going to have or when it will premiere.
This has been a passion project for Katims, confronting a subject that’s personal for him. “Having a 23-year-old son with autism, it’s deeply personal for me to get to tell this unique story of what it’s like to come of age as someone with autism.” said Katims, to Disability Scoop.
“Jason Katims is excellent at creating beautiful and relatable stories about deeply authentic characters, and this new series continues in that tradition. This series is honest, touching and extremely entertaining, with casting that delivers a unique and genuine perspective on universal themes that we know our global Amazon Prime Video customers will love”, said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, to Disability Scoop.
We look forward to learning more about this project and seeing it come to fruition.
