5 Ways People Can Get Involved with Autism Awareness Month at Home
In April, we will celebrate National Autism Awareness Month which is an excellent opportunity to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance and to draw attention to the millions of lives impacted by autism. There are many ways to get involved in the autism community and the benefits of being involved in the autism community are many.
None of this is possible without people like you leading the way to take action. Here are some suggestions on how you can get involved during the Autism Awareness Month:
Social Media:
Social media is a great tool that can be used to reach millions of people from all around the world. Follow us and tag us on platforms like Facebook, Twitter and, instagram while you share your story or any story about autism and help spread awareness.
2. Wear the color blue:
Wear your autism awareness shirts and autism awareness ribbons. Take a picture of yourself wearing blue and use your social media channels to post a picture of yourself with a caption including #GoBlue and using our hashtag #MyAutism. The hashtags act as easy trackers to see how many other people are participating and what they’re doing differently for Autism Awareness Month. Let’s #GoBlue all month long!
3. Learn about Autism:
To spread autism awareness, start by learning about the topic. Read about autism from our website including our blog posts and articles. This will help you better educate yourself so you’re ready to be the best advocate you can be.
4. Raise Money:
Join the team #MyAutism and create a fundraiser through our website to raise money and awareness and help the autism community. All you have to do is share the link and rally your community together to help make a difference. Also, if you have a birthday coming up you can use this special day to raise awareness for autism and dedicate your birthday to individuals and families affected by autism that need your support.
5. Make a Donation:
Making a charitable donation to the American Autism Association can change the lives of people in need affected by autism, especially during these difficult times.
However, you decide to participate during the month of April, any activity or contribution will work towards the greater goal of educating people about autism and fighting for a future with more solutions to better the lives of those affected by autism. Remember to encourage others to get involved and educate your community whenever possible!!
